Young Person’s tickets are now available for 16, 17 and 18 year olds offering better value and more affordable travel.
Following changes to the law meaning young people must stay in education or work based training until their 18th Birthday, Merseyrail have made changes to their ticket products to bring more affordable travel to younger passengers.
Passengers aged 18 years or under can now buy Young Person’s Railpass and Day Saver tickets for travel in the Merseyside area.
16 -18 ID Cards
If you're lucky enough to be 16-18, from 31 July 2017 you'll need to prove it if you want to buy a Young Person's ticket.
Don't miss out on great savings. Make sure you have a valid ID card each time you travel or you'll be charged for a full price ticket. Just bring a passport, driving licence or get a Merseyrail ID card, available from any staffed station. If you would like a Merseyrail ID card, just take your passport sized photo to the station, complete the short form and a staff member will issue you the card straight away.

Day Saver
Make as many journeys as you like throughout the day with a Day Saver. Day Savers are valid before 06:31 and from 09:30, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.
Young People aged 18 and under can now purchase a Day Saver from £2.20 for 1 Area, or just £2.95 for an All Area Day Saver.
Tickets are available for purchase from booking offices at staffed stations and from ticket machines located at our stations.

Ticket Restrictions: Day Savers are not valid for travel between 06:31 and 09:29, Monday to Friday and Railcards are not valid for use with this product.
Skip the queue and buy your Day Saver online
You can now buy an All Area Adult and 18 and under Day Saver online. Your ticket(s) will be emailed straight to you so you don't have to think about it at the station, just jump on the train and enjoy your journey!
Simply click the link below, get your tickets and then all you need to think about is all the places you can go. All other tickets are available to buy at any Merseyrail station.
Railpass
Sidestep those early morning ticket queues and save money with a Railpass. If you travel on the City line you will need a standard Railpass, more info here. Young People aged 18 and under can now purchase a Young Person's Weekly or Term Time Railpass.
