External Charity Support

Merseyrail supports local charities, clubs, sports teams and community groups across Merseyside with in kind donations and sponsorship.

Local charities are allowed on to stations to collect and raise awareness of their work.  For example, from April - September 2022, charities such as Maggie’s Cancer Support, RNLI, Jospice, Veterans for Cancer and Rescue Me; a charity supporting abandoned pets and animals, have received donations on Merseyrail stations.

On average, they collected around £300 per session which means that in total over £16,000 has been raised by Merseyrail passengers for these fantastic local organisations and charities.

If you are interested in collecting on Merseyrail stations, please contact Merseyrail's Corporate Social Resposibility Manager, Sally Ralston by email at [email protected].

This is purely on a first come first served basis, however we will try to accomodate as many charities as possible. Please note that this is also coordinated with Merseyrail commercial activity on stations, therefore not all dates and locations can be accomodated.

Internal Charity Support

KIND

On Tuesday, 20th September the Merseyrail HR team took part in a volunteer day at Tam O Shanter farm, one of the four key charities Merseyrail supports.  The team helped to move two aviaries across the farm and to clear a space ready for a sensory garden to be installed for special needs groups.

Strictly the Big Trust Charity Fundraiser

Last year, two Merseyrail staff, Tara Connolly and Laura Latham, trained to compete in a ballroom dance challenge to raise funds for Merseyrail's partners at The Big Trust. The hard work culminated in a brilliant event at the Titanic Hotel. The ladies did the company proud with Laura achieving runner up with her beautiful waltz. Their efforts have raised £1,000’s to help Merseyrail's local communities in disadvantaged areas of the Liverpool City Region.
