National Railcards can be used with single and return ticket purchases after 10am. Before 10am the minimum spend that a Railcard can be used against is £12, more than the cost of the longest journey on the Merseyrail network.

Railcards can’t be used when buying Day Saver, Family Ticket or Railpass tickets, with the exception of the 16 - 17 Saver Card. However, Merseyrail Day Saver and Railpass tickets are already half price for anyone aged 18 or under so the Railcard is not needed to benefit from cheaper fares on these tickets.

16 - 17 Saver Card

Launched in August 2019, the 16-17 Saver card gives 50% off most National Rail fares. It is valid to use for travel on or after 2 September 2019.

Available to anyone aged 16 or 17, the card costs just £30 and is valid for one year or until you turn 18. It can be used to get 50% off standard Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance Tickets.

You can buy a 16-17 Saver online here.
