St George's Hall

St George's Hall is widely regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world.

Builgt in the early 1800s as a space for music festivals and the Civil and Crown Courts, St George’s Hall has always been at the heart of the community in the city and after a £23m refurbishment, it was reopened in 2007 by Prince Charles. It stands 169ft long and 74ft wide with a tunnel vaulted ceiling, which is the largest of its kind in Europe. Behind the gold leaf and porticoes, St George’s Hall has one of the greatest brick arches in the world with a spectacular mosaic floor of 30,000 tiles.

Today St George’s Hall hosts exhibitions, tours and talks, corporate events and weddings in a selection of beautiful rooms, including The Concert Room, 'the most perfect room in the world' according to Charles Dickens. Events range from the performances by the sensational Philharmonic Orchestra, stand up comedy, family fun days, craft fairs and tours of the creepy catacombs!
