Crosby Beach - Antony Gormley

The spectacular sculptures by Antony Gormley stretch along Crosby beach. Another Place consists of 100 cast-iron, life-size figures spread out along three kilometres of the foreshore, standing almost one kilometre out to sea.

The Another Place figures - each one weighing 650 kilos - are made from casts of the artist's own body standing on the beach, all of them looking out to sea, staring at the horizon in silent expectation. 

Now a permanent feature, the famous statues are part of the Merseyside landscape and a photographers paradise. Not forgetting the stretch of golden sand, Crosby beach is a gem of our coastline where you can have a stroll taking in the sea air or have a great family day out. 

Please note: Crosby beach is a non-bathing beach with areas of soft sand and mud and a risk of changing tides. Visitors should stay within 50 metres of the promenade at all times and not attempt to walk out to the furthest figures.

Don’t forget your beach basics - to keep us all safe and the stunning Sefton coastline looking clean and beautiful:

• Use the bins – Sefton Council have put larger bins & skips at busy locations for your use. If a bin is full, pop your litter in a bag, then please take it home and recycle where you can.
• Remember BBQs & fires are not allowed anywhere at the coast.
• Please respect this precious landscape, it is home to many rare plants and animals!

Crosby is a lifeguarded beach but it's important to follow key safety advice:

• Check tide times and only swim within the yellow and red RNLI flags
• Be aware of soft mud. If you get into difficulty and can't see the lifeguard call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
• If you get into trouble in the water lie on your back and relax, resisting the urge to thrash about. If possible raise your hand and shout for help.
