With over 20,000 animals, in 125 acres of award-winning zoological gardens, Chester Zoo really is the place to be.

There are a whopping 20,000 animals at the zoo from 500 different species, with about half of these species being on the threatened list. There is a lot more than meets the eye in Chester Zoo, not only do they have thousands of wonderful animals but also they are helping thousands more around the world through conservations.

So why not listen to the roar of the Lions and Tigers, or marvel at the ever so intelligent elephants, or even watch on as the monkeys swing from tree to tree. You can also step inside the Fruit Bat Forest and explore the darkness with free-flying bats or you can relax and take in the beautiful sights inside the Butterfly House with free-flying butterflies and moths.

Ticket Prices

A Merseyrail All Zone Day Saver costs just £5.95 for adults and £2.95 for young people (5-18yrs) and can be used from 9.30am for unlimited travel on the Merseyrail network.

A Merseyrail Family Ticket can be used for up to 2 adults and 3 children and costs just £13! The ticket is valid from 9.30am and can be used throughout the day for unlimited travel on the Merseyrail network and Northern, Wirral and City line trains within the Merseytravel boundaries.
