COVID-19 Timetable Changes

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Merseyrail will be running a reduced timetable, with trains every 30 minutes on all lines. There are likely to be further amendments to our timetable over the coming weeks, and we encourage all customers to check before you travel. We ask passengers to follow government advice and avoid unnecessary travel. Our priority is to provide a service for key workers and essential journeys. There are changes to Wirral line services on Sunday 29th March, please check before you travel.

Some Merseyrail tickets are available to purchase via Trainline, however passengers should be aware that Trainline tickets cannot be collected from Merseyrail stations.

Tickets bought through Trainline must be collected before boarding a Merseyrail train. Tickets can be collected from:

  • Liverpool South Parkway station from the Northern Rail ticket machines
  • Chester station ticket machines
  • Lime Street main line station ticket machines 

64 of the 68 stations on the Merseyrail network have staffed ticket offices from the start to end of service, so it's quick and easy to purchase your tickets at the station before you travel. There are also Ticket Vending Machines at 19 Merseyrail stations. Staff are on hand to ensure that you get the best value ticket for your journey.
