Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Merseyrail will be running a reduced timetable, with trains every 30 minutes on all lines. There are likely to be further amendments to our timetable over the coming weeks, and we encourage all customers to check before you travel. We ask passengers to follow government advice and avoid unnecessary travel. Our priority is to provide a service for key workers and essential journeys. There are changes to Wirral line services on Sunday 29th March, please check before you travel.

The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) issued a report in July, about Risk associated with train dispatch.
The report uses 6 years’ worth of accident and incident data from around the country and explores Personal accidents to passengers and members of the public associated with train dispatch including:
- Any injury to passengers or public while they are boarding or alighting a train.
- Incidents of passengers or public coming into contact with a train while on the vplatform, or falling between a stationary or departing train and the platform.
The report found that trains without guards were as safe, if not safer than those with guards.
