To assist with the large volume of passengers attending the Giants Spectacular event, and to continue to deliver a reliable service, we are running a special event timetable, which will include a limited stop service and some stations will be closed.

This guide will explain how your journey will be affected during the event and includes new timetables, station closures and key passenger information.

Please note: as a special event timetable will be in place, your usual train times will likely have changed. Please see the below timetables before you travel.

Assisted Travel

We are committed to supporting passengers who may require assistance to travel over the course of the event. Passengers requiring assistance are advised to contact Merseyrail’s Customer Relations team on 0151 555 1111 as far in advance of travel as possible, due to the station and road closures that will be in place.

For more information on Assisted Travel please click here.

Lime Street Mainline

During the four days of the Giants Spectacular event, there will be a queuing system in place, taking passengers in and out of Lime Street mainline station.

Exiting the station will be via Lord Nelson Street only and access will be via Skelhorne Street only.

Signage will be clearly displayed throughout the station and staff will be available to assist.

Travelling to Liverpool vs Manchester City

Due to the limited stop service on the Merseyrail network to ensure that a robust and reliable service runs, which is both frequent and strengthened, Sandhills station will not be open for Soccerbus. Passengers travelling to Liverpool Football Club during the Giants event are advised to take the train to Moorfields or Liverpool Central stations and change on to one of the commercial bus services that run to Anfield.
