Improved Accessibility at Formby Station
Station & Service Updates
A £1.6million scheme to provide two passenger lifts at Formby station and improvements to the historic station building is now complete.
Offering step free access from the booking hall, the modern lifts make it easier to reach the platforms, making the station an option for those who may have previously been put off using it because of mobility problems or by having to manoeuvre pushchairs and prams.
The lifts are designed to complement the existing station building and have been installed over the past seven months in a scheme jointly funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) Access for All programmes and Merseytravel, with the work being delivered by Merseyrail.
The Access for All programme was introduced to make travelling more convenient for disabled passengers travelling by train across the country. Formby is the ninth station that Merseytravel has been able to secure funding for in Merseyside.
