92 Degrees Coffee
Perched on the corner of Hardman Street and Hope Street, 92 Degrees Coffee is a favourite amongst the cosmopolitan folk who frequent Liverpool’s Georgian gem Hope Street, a wide cobbled street lined with cafés, bars, sculptures and restaurants. Liverpool’s first micro roastery, 92 Degrees are not only expert coffee makers, but they also work closely with their partners to ensure that their products meet ethical standards and are made in a sustainable environment. Drink good and do good.
Bold Street Coffee @ Santa Maluco
Some say Bold Street Coffee raised the bar in Liverpool’s coffee game. It’s hard to disagree when you sample one of their brews. Now based in Castle Street’s Santa Maluco – a short walk from both Moorfields and James Street Stations, they’ve kept their Bold Street moniker and the high-quality beverages and breakfasts they’re known for. Make it your priority to pay them a visit and we promise you’ll thank us later.
Crosby Coffee
It’s not all about the city centre you know. Hop on the Northern line towards Southport and you’ll find a whole host of independents less than 20 minutes out of town in Waterloo and Crosby. Nearby Waterloo Station, Crosby Coffee are causing a bit of a stir (excuse the pun). With beans from all over the world, we recommend their Colombian roast if you’re in need of a strong one.
Aubergine Cafe, West Kirby
This quaint, award-winning café, a stone’s throw from West Kirby Station, is the cream of the crop of a host of wonderful independently run cafés and tearooms in the Wirral shoreside town. Their coffee is supplied by a local artisan independent roaster who hand roasts the beans in small batches to maximise their freshness and give a rich and luxurious taste. While you’re there, you won’t be able to resist their stellar all-day breakfast menu or afternoon tea offer – two of the best around.
Coffee and Fandisha, Baltic Triangle
As well as doing one of the best avocado toasts in town, this Baltic bolthole is known for its wonderful coffee (as you’d imagine from the name). Taking their ethos from the Ethiopian coffee ceremony, these guys bring a relaxed atmosphere to everything they do and offer some wonderful speciality brews, fresh juices and cakes and slices. They regularly showcase work by local artists too – take in some art and breathe in a brew.
Space Coffee, Aigburth
Aigburth is becoming a real hotspot of great independent establishments and Space Coffee are leading the way in terms of the black stuff. Just a three-minute walk from Aigburth Station, the lovely Lark Lane, Sefton Park and Otterspool Promenade are all close by too, making Space Coffee the perfect destination to head to and unwind after a nice weekend stroll. They’re one of the most creative coffee establishments on Merseyside too – salted caramel lattes and crunchie caramel lattes are just some of the delights you can try out there.
Ziferblat, St Paul’s Square
Not your traditional coffee shop by any means – at Ziferblat, everything you receive is free except the time you spend in there (which clocks in at a mere 8p a minute). You’ll get access to brew-it-yourself coffee, cakes, juices, fruit, snacks and that all-import Wi-Fi. Located in St Paul’s Square just tucked behind Moorfields Station, their coffee is sourced from the aforementioned 92 Degrees, so you know you’re getting the good stuff.
