New trains started to be introduced on the Kirkby line on Monday 23 January. The new fleet of 777s are set to modernise rail services across the Merseyrail network.

Getting on and off the trains will be a bit different to what you are used to.

New trains will stop at different points on the platform to the current trains and doors will open in different locations. Passengers travelling with bikes are advised to walk their bikes to the correct position on the platform, and are reminded that cycling on platforms is not permitted for safety reasons.

There are spaces that have been specifically designed for bikes.

The doors closest to the areas are marked with a bike symbol on the outside of the train.

The new trains have buttons on the inside and outside that you will need to push to open the doors.

An innovative sliding step will meet the platform edge, making it easier to get your bike on and off the train.

Once on board, there is space for up to 3 bikes in each docking area. Cyclists are asked to use these docking areas, to keep aisles and entry ways clear.

We can't wait to welcome you on board!
