National Trust Formby

Discover sweeping pinewoods and one of the most important sand dune habitats in north-west Europe, where wildlife is thriving.

From rare natterjack toads, sand lizards, red squirrels and internationally important wading birds, to a wide variety of wild flowers and over 1,000 different types of moths and butterflies.

NT Formby is also rich in history, you can sometimes catch glimpses of the past from spotting pre-historic footprints and shipwrecks on the beach to strolling through what was once acres of asparagus fields.

Car parks can get very busy on sunny days and holidays so why not go car free, make a day of it, boost your daily step count and travel by train.

Thank you for helping to keep Formby’s nature haven special by taking your litter home with you and not lighting fires or BBQs.

Lots of useful information and top tips for planning your visit to Formby’s nature haven can be found on The National Trust Formby website here.
