Footgolf, the latest hybrid sports craze, comes to Aintree.
Footgolf is played on a golf course using a size 5 football. The object of the game is to get the ball into the hole using only your feet in the fewest number of shots possible. Footgolf is a very 'addictive' sport - it combines the best of football and golf, two of the most popular sports in the world. The beauty of the game lies in you being able to strategically combine power and precision every time you play Footgolf. And, of course, it is open to everyone.
The latest Footgolf UK site, which is now at Aintree’s Golf Centre in the grounds of the famous racecourse, has a 9-hole circuit with ball hire available at the Golf Centre.
It follows the opening of one on a modified pitch and putt at Arrowe Park in Wirral, with two more planned to open soon in Birkenhead and Wallasey.
Although it’s believed to have started in Europe, Footgolf has become a boom hybrid sport in the USA where there are now around 500 courses in 48 states.
