National Waterways Museum
Much of Britain’s internal development throughout the Victorian era owes to the winding sequences of canals linking up the country. At the National Water Ways museum, located a short distance from Ellesmere Port station, families and enthusiasts are brought closer to the modes of transport that bore the load of the industrial age. Both historically stimulating and picturesque, the water ways adjoining to the museum provide a stark picture of life 200 years previous, even in their much quieter contemporary form. Leading on to the Manchester ship canal, the museum provides a great starting point for a historic wander into British history.
