5. National Waterways Museum

Waterways Museum

Much of Britain’s internal development throughout the Victorian era owes to the winding sequences of canals linking up the country. At the National Water Ways museum, located a short distance from Ellesmere Port station, families and enthusiasts are brought closer to the modes of transport that bore the load of the industrial age. Both historically stimulating and picturesque, the water ways adjoining to the museum provide a stark picture of life 200 years previous, even in their much quieter contemporary form. Leading on to the Manchester ship canal, the museum provides a great starting point for a historic wander into British history.

Nearest station: Ellesmere Port is a 16 minute walk away.

6. Family Yoga with Yoga Bears

Sefton Park Palm House

The Sefton Park Pam house is a reserve of tranquillity. The abundance of flora lining the transparent structure gives off the effect of an undisturbed oasis pressed up against a busy landscape, just a 10 minute walk from St Michael’s station. This half term, families and children three years and over will have the opportunity to unwind a little further at a special family-orientated yoga class within the palm house. The class challenges grandparents, aunties, mums, dads and the rest of the family to try to attempt and master the 26 Yoga bear poses in the company of the beautiful abundance of botany. Tickets and places must be purchased before the day of the class.
