Losing your belongings can be stressful and inconvenient. We understand this and strive to reunite lost items with their rightful owner as quickly as possible. If you lose an item on one of our trains or one of our stations and it is found or handed in to our staff, you can be assured we are making every effort to return it to its owner. Station staff will attempt to contact the owner if there are any visible identifying parts such as an address, phone number etc. but if not, all items are logged with our lost property department immediately. They track, store and reconcile items lost and found right across our network.
If an item is not claimed within 48hrs it is stored at our lost property office located at our Water Street entrance to James Street station. Travel passes are usually sent to your home address , other items will be kept for three months but any perishable items are destroyed immediately. If you have lost anything on our train, call our lost property office on 0151 702 2951 or email lostproperty@merseyrail.org. Our opening hours are currently 8am to 1.15pm and 3pm to 6pm Monday-Friday.
If the office is closed, you can leave an answerphone message giving details of the item and the journey you made when you lost it, and a member of the team will contact you when the office has reopened. For lost property on other local train operating companies:
