Formby Point & Squirrel Park

At Freshfield, you will find a National Trust property where the endangered Red Squirrel thrives. The Red Squirrel Reserve is situated on Victoria Rd in Freshfield (about a 10-minute walk from the station). The reserve consists of predominantly coniferous woodlands, which were planted in the 1920s to stabilise the dunes and shelter Formby. Red squirrels are native to Britain. They are active during the day, although they spend three-quarters of their active time above ground in trees and shrubs. However, almost every visitor will see a Red squirrel.
