Chester Zoo
As the kids school holidays have begun we know you will be thinking of weird and wonderful ideas of what to do with them to keep them happy. If you live close to the Merseyrail link have you considered taking them to Chester Zoo.
Chester Zoo is a great family day out, no matter how old your children are. There are currently 7000 animals being cared for at Chester Zoo and over 400 different species including the latest addition, a baby elephant that has now been called Nayan.
If you want a fun day out then you should definitely consider Chester Zoo as there is something for all of the family and in addition to being able to see the animals there is so much more you can do including visiting the Chester Zoo library and spending time in the beautiful Chester Zoo gardens.
Travelling from throughout Merseyrail area to Chester Zoo is extremely easy, all you need to do is hop onto the train into Chester and then there is a free bus link from Chester station to Chester Zoo throughout the day.
If you want to travel to Chester Zoo from any of the stations on our Northern Line then you will need to change a Liverpool Central and get on one of the Wirral Line trains which will enable you to get to Chester and then get to Chester Zoo.
Please be aware that not all trains on the Wirral Line go as far as Chester so be sure to get on the right train. If you are unsure as to where you need to go speak to one of the Merseyrail staff in the station and they will be happy to guide you on your way.
